About Me

I am a wife and a mother of 3 kids, 2 of whom have food allergies.  Our daughter has the most severe food allergies, which include dairy, eggs, nuts, peanuts, wheat, sesame and sunflower seeds.  We discovered her allergies in a variety of ways.  As a young baby, she was covered with severe eczema and often scratched herself bloody.  Then, at the age of 7 months I gave her a bite of my pancakes one morning.  Within minutes, she was frantically scratching her arms.  As I looked down I noticed her arms were covered with hundreds of hives.  We soon had her at the allergist and tested for food allergies.  It was then that we found out she was severely allergic to several foods.

As a mom, I wanted to be able to provide her with a balanced diet as well as special treats like pancakes, cookies and birthday cakes. My adventure began.  I spent lots of time scouring cookbooks, blogs, and websites for recipe ideas.  Some recipes were winners and some most definitely were not. I have learned about wonderful substitutions for ingredients like eggs and dairy, and with this information have been able to modify various recipes to create a yummy collection of allergy-free recipes my daughter loves.
